Seminar on College Teaching
for Graduate Students & Postdocs
Do you expect to teach undergraduates in your career? If so, please join us for this informative and interactive course. We will use readings, discussions, and activities to develop essential skills for designing, delivering, and evaluating effective college-level courses. Topics are driven by participant interest and may include:

- examining how students learn,
- developing course objectives,
- designing teaching strategies to meet those objectives,
- creating meaningful forms of testing and assessment,
- establishing a productive learning environment,
- using tools and techniques to improve communication,
- considering ethical issues in teaching and learning, and
- developing ways to promote life-long learning and self-improvement in teaching.
Everyone must sign up (below), including faculty, postdocs, and graduate students who do not wish to earn transcript credit.
In addition, graduate students may earn one unit of credit by signing up for EDU 398. If you wish to register for credit, please indicate such in the sign-up form and we will send you the appropriate CRN.
Enrollment is limited, so please sign up early! This course is normally offered in Fall Quarter, but is occasionally offered at other times when possible.
If you sign up below, we will contact you when the course is next offered. People will be admitted to the course in the order in which they sign up. We do keep a waiting list and will let you know if a space becomes available. For more information, please contact Rosemary Capps or Mikaela Huntzinger.
