TA Orientation, Part I

The Orientation for New Teaching Assistants is composed of two parts:

Part I will take place in four identical sessions on the mornings and afternoons of Monday, September 24, 2011, and Tuesday, September 25, 2012, in Wellman Hall(Each TA attends only one of the four sessions, as described below.)  Part I of the TA Orientation focuses on skills TAs need every day, such as the ability to present information clearly and techniques for getting students involved in discussion.

Part II will take place at the beginning of Winter Quarter on Friday, January 4, 2013.  Part II focuses on specialized skills, such as how to prevent cheating, how to create effective library assignments, and how to respond to students with personal problems.

Both Part I and Part II of the TA Orientation are required for all UC Davis TAs who have not yet taken the TA Orientation at UC Davis. The required day and time to attend are listed by department below.

Please note:

In addition, all TAs are invited to attend a workshop on Preventing Sexual Harassment in Teaching Settings (date, time, location TBA). Some departments require this workshop or other training on preventing sexual harassment. Please check with the department for which you will TA.
