Grants

UC Davis offers many grants to instructors who wish to improve undergraduate instruction. Some of these are coordinated by the CETL, some by other programs on campus. Click the links below to learn more about each of the opportunities.

For faculty

The Provost Hybrid Course Award (PHCA) – grants for developing hybrid courses (balanced proportions of face-to-face and online instruction).

Undergraduate Instructional Improvement Program (UIIP) – large grants for improving instruction.

UIIP Mini-Grants/Travel grants – grants, up to $500, for instructional purposes.  Applications accepted any time.

NOTE: The Mini-Grant program does not fund technology upgrades or improvements, such as preparing or digitizing slides for classroom presentation.  See Educational Technology Resource Awards.

First-Year Seminar Mini-Grants – grants, up to $500, to assist faculty offering First-Year Seminars.

For faculty and graduate students

Dean Witter fund – for informal interactions between students and faculty and/or TAs (meals, gatherings, etc.).

To improve graduate student teaching

TA Development Program Grants – No longer funded separately.  Please apply through the UIIP grant program above.

Chancellor’s Teaching Fellowships – On hiatus due to budget cuts.
