Scantrons
Scantron machines process multiple choice forms. Scantrons are used primarily for two main functions:
- scoring of midterm and final exams, and
- student evaluations, whether department-initiated or instructor-initiated.
The CETL has two Scantron scoring options:
- stand-alone scoring (available on a walk-in basis), or
- computer-assisted scoring. To use the computer-assisted Scantron equipment to score multiple-choice exams, you must have an appointment. Set one up by emailing testscore@ucdavis.edu or Barbara Mills at bjmills@ucdavis.edu. Our staff will walk you through a scoring session, but you are responsible for your data.
Important: Students must use the UCD SCANTRON FORM 2000 (blue), which is available from the bookstore and from the VENDING MACHINE in Olson Hall.
The UCD Scantron 2000 form:
- Works well with all stand-alone scoring machines,
- Has spaces for 100 questions with 5 answer choices,
- Allows up to 4 version numbers,
- Accommodates a 9-digit student ID number,
- Accommodates subjective scores up to 999,
- Has flexibility in scoring (e.g., weighting answers and penalty points), and
- Allows for complete computer analysis of exam questions (you may test your exam to see how it performs).
