Healthy Mind, Healthy Body

Description: The course will allow students to
explore and self-manage
common health related problems associated with being a college
student; identify
skills essential for improving and maintaining health and participating as an
active partner in their own health decisions.
Format: The class will meet each week on Thursdays
from 12 noon
to 1:00pm. At the completion of the course, the student will be able
to: 1) Identify
ten essential skills for improving and maintaining their health. 2) Incorporate
several strategies to manage their own response to life’s stressors. And
3) Identify several strategies for working effectively with health
professionals
to manage their own health care needs.
Grading: Attendance
and active participation is required. Students will submit two
written annotated
bibliographies of five or more references of topics of interest to
them, and make
an oral presentation of each to the class about those topics.
