Seminar Goals:
Enhance students' understanding of how immigration policies reflect value choices made by policy makers in determining who fits the image of "real" Americans.

Format: Use of texts such as Hing, Defining America Through Immigration Policy; Higham, Strangers in the Land; Johnson, The Huddled Masses Myth. Grading: One 10-page paper: 50 % of grade. One Objective Final Exam: 50% of grade.
